Surgery Update!

As many of you may know since Gage was 2 weeks old we began telling Doctors we thought he was breathing very loud. At 6 weeks old, we took him to his ENT Dr. Bauer where he was diagonsed with larnygomalacia. We have been treating him with Prilosec and Prevacid since then. We all kept hoping he would grow out of it as most children do but when Gage had his tubes put in they did a scope to see what was going on in his throat. His little voicebox was so crowded and had tissue around it that he was not breathing in enough air. Gage then got to do a sleep study and after all that Dr. Bauer determined it was time for surgery. The little champ went in on Thursday morning and Dr. Bauer cut two slits near his voicebox and removed some tissue and put a couple of stiches in, technical terms superglottoplasty. So after all that we spent the night in PICU. He did very well and they released us on Friday to come home. Funny thing is, we are so used to hearing him breathe loud that now we have to check to make sure he is breathing. Gage is showing no signs of discomfort at all. We want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Our little angel is breathing much better and our hopes are that he will be sleeping much better soon.

Love to you all!!
